This album, beyond being a highly respectable and decent rendition of Raag Jait is, in my humble opinion, one of the most exhilarating recorded performances of Zakir Hussain ever. (And I might add that I have seen him live 5 times.) This album, as I was saying, besides containing a great duo performance of Raag Jait, is an astonishingly clear and beautiful recording. The sound of the Tabla, combined with the sheer brilliance and inspiration of Zakir -of course following every nuance of the Lehara stream that Sultanji provides- is a display of sound as is a pyrotechnic show against a deep black night sky over the ocean. The balance, clarity and almost pristine purity of the instruments voice is simply breathtaking. The kind and spontaneous Illustration on the basic elements and structure of a Tabla solo is also a nice feature to take into account. And the solo following its Illustration is just on the very edge of rhythmic wizardy and the possibilities of Zakir's hands on the Tabla. Recommended and acclaimed as one of the most exciting and well recorded albums featuring the Tabla ever. P1 P2 Enjoy!
